Galabina Tarashova, MD

Dr. Tarashoeva is a psychiatrist and psychotherapist with over 40 years of experience in outpatient, emergency and inpatient psychiatry.

Dr. Tarashoeva graduated in medicine and specialized in psychiatry at the Medical Academy in Sofia, Master's degree in Health Management at the Medical University in Sofia, defended her educational and scientific degree Doctor in the Department of Psychiatry and Medical Psychology at the Medical University "Paraskev Stoyanov Varna.The topic of her dissertation is "Some aspects of the effectiveness of psychodrama therapy in patients with panic disorder", which is the first clinical study of the effectiveness of a psychotherapeutic method in Bulgaria, and one of the first randomized studies with a control group on the effectiveness of psychodrama therapy in general. https://www.mu-varna.bg/BG/galabina-petrova-tarashoeva.

As a student and in the first years of her medical practice she participated in leading one of the first psychotherapeutic groups in Bulgaria (1979 - 1983) (with hospitalized mentally ill).

A pioneer of modern psychotherapy in Bulgaria, Dr. Tarashoeva worked for many years in the office "Neurosis and Psychotherapy".

After meeting with the Psychodrama Method at the IAGP Congress in Zagreb in 1986, Galabina Tarashoeva made three years of efforts to ensure that psychodrama training (the first training in a psychotherapeutic method in Bulgaria) penetrated the Iron Curtain in the spring of 1989.

She graduated as a psychodrama psychotherapist from the Stockholm Psychodrama Academy and the Psychodrama Institute for Europe. She founded and managed the first training center for psychodramatists in Bulgaria in 1993. She actively participated in national and international professional organizations, conferences and congresses, workshops, seminars and projects.

She led the first groups for personal development in our country in the early 90's, as well as the first homogeneous psychodrama - therapeutic groups with patients with anxiety disorders, and later - with alcoholics.

She introduced crisis interventions in emergency psychiatric care with the development and implementation of the model "Mobile Psychiatry". She successively headed an emergency psychiatric ward, a high security ward, and later managed the Center for Mental Health Prof. N. Shipkovenski.

She participates in several European projects, with psychotherapeutic and psychosocial orientation, in some of them she develops the methodology, trains the partner teams and supervises the activities.

Later, as a psychotherapist at the Animus Association Foundation, Dr. Tarashoeva enriched her experience with working with women victims of violence, with children with problems and their families, with the syndrome of parental alienation, with training of prospective adoptive parents. Currently, as head of the department at the State Psychiatric Hospital for the Treatment of Drug and Alcoholism Expands her competence and practical experience in the field of addictions.

Dr. Tarashoeva provides her patients with an opportunity for complex treatment - medication and psychotherapy; counseling, psychosocial rehabilitation and self-empowerment, the combination of which is agreed after the first session, according to the needs and desires of the patient.

It has been proven that maximum effectiveness in overcoming mental disorders is achieved by combining drug treatment with psychotherapy.
